Comparing the Infiniti QX80 vs Lincoln Navigator

Whether you're taking a quick ride to see a show at the Plaza Theater or star gazing on an off-road trail in the Big Bend Region, you need the right vehicle to get you there. The Infiniti QX80 and Lincoln Navigator both put a luxurious, family-friendly spin on rugged performance. How can you choose just one? These full-size luxury SUVs both have so much to offer that you might not know where to begin. Luckily, we've got the specs to help you decide.

Performance

At first glance, the Lincoln Navigator may look a little more enticing than the QX80, as you'll get more horsepower courtesy of the Navigator’s 450-HP 3.5L twin turbocharged V-6. But if you dig a little deeper, you'll see why the QX80 has opted for its naturally aspirated 400-HP 5.6L V-8. Not only do you get more power to tow up to 8,500 pounds (compared to the Lincoln's 8,300), but you'll also have the assurance of trailer sway control. In addition to better towing capacity and trailer sway, the Infiniti QX80 also comes with forged 22" wheels (not available on the Navigator). The forged element ensures that the wheels grip the road as much as possible, even when the SUV is under pressure. These wheels ensure better handling for the driver, and they're strong enough to ward off every day wear and tear.

Comfort and convenience

When it comes to high-end cruising, it’s nearly impossible to choose one of these SUVs over the other. Both the QX80 and Lincoln Navigator attract a crowd with three rows of roomy seating, high-end cabin materials, and luxurious options. Both models appeal to your senses with different color leather upholstery options, wood trim, and heated and ventilated front seats. In the QX80 however, all riders can enjoy an auto air circulation feature that senses and eliminates odors. While this is recommended for everyone, it's especially valuable for those who have allergies or underlying breathing conditions. Finally, the QX80 comes packaged with soft, semi-aniline leather seats, one of the most luxurious materials on the market today.

Technology package

Both luxury SUVs come standard with an impressive list of infotainment features and modern safety aids. But it’s the QX80 that stands apart. We like its dual touchscreen take on infotainment. Other standard features include Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone connectivity, a 13-speaker Bose® stereo system, and navigation. If you want, you can always upgrade your audio experience with the optional 17-speaker audio system. The Navigator’s infotainment system doesn’t offer dual screens, but it does include a 10-inch touch-screen interface and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. If you want navigation, you’re going to have to pay extra for it.

Safety features

The QX80 also delivers more in standard safety aids. While both SUVs feature forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist at no extra cost, the QX80 also throws backup collision intervention, object motion detection, a 360-degree parking camera, and adaptive cruise control into its standard lineup. These elements are designed to give you more control on the road, so you don't have to worry about every sudden event.

Price

The QX80 is known for its posh cabin, rugged capabilities, and family-friendly space. But it’s equally loved for its relatively thrifty price tag. In the luxury SUV segment, anyway, the QX80 is a great deal, starting at $69,050. The top-tier trim model starts at $83,300, an MSRP that’s equally attractive. Any way you look at it, the 2021 Lincoln Navigator will set you back thousands of dollars more. At the low end of the MSRP range, the Navigator starts at $76,185. Top-of-the-line models start at $101,325.
